In the year 2011, I was living in a share house in the inner west of Sydney. One of my flatmates was a young German man. I knew he was German because he once cut himself shaving in bathroom and yelled "scheiße" at the top of his lungs. Also, he told me he was German. One day he emailed to say he needed to move out in a hurry, and he would send someone to pick up his belongings. I never saw him again, however, in his haste, he had left behind a red suit which conveniently fit me. At night I wore the suit out on Parramatta Road. A friend and I were making short films with a digital camera we'd purchased a few years prior. The cover photo above is a screen shot from some footage we took that night. I believe we were eating at a middle eastern restaurant, across the road from the largest bead shop in the southern hemisphere (probably). Today (26 November 2023) I sat down and recorded 4 songs live in the office of the house I'm renting (which doubles as a makeshift studio). I took the first take that I could successfully get through the whole song without stuffing up the lyrics — so be forewarned, these are rough recordings. I like to think of it as a Christmas record, Christmas being around the corner. In any event, I hope you enjoy listening to them. Merry merry.
